Mission Mars has reported £71.1m in group revenue for the 12 month period ending 23 September 2023, equating to a 51% jump in growth.

The operator, which owns Albert’s Schloss and Rudy’s Pizza Napoletana, also reported group adjusted EBITDA for the period of £8.7m, compared to £5.2m in 2022.

Revenue for Albert’s Schloss stood at £32.3m, up from £21.6m in 2022, while Rudy’s pizza delivered £29.3m, up from £16.1m in 2022.

Numbers for the current financial year also looked strong, with half-year trading standing at record levels for Albert’s Schloss (£18.9m) and Rudy’s (£19.9m) and like-for-like performance standing at 5% and 17% respectively. The company said Q3 is trading with similar levels of growth.

Chief executive, Roy Ellis, said: “Whilst the sector continues to face a number of challenges, our team continued to build on previous year successes by delivering an industry-leading group guest experience score of 78% in FY23 and delivering further improvement to 82% in FY24 H1.”

Ellis also pointed to record staff retention rates for a third successive year.

The company employs 1,502 people across 32 sites around the UK consisting of 26 Rudy’s Pizza Napoletana restaurants and four Albert’s Schloss bars.

Private equity firm BGF invested £10m into Mission Mars in 2018, providing the business an opportunity to expand into more cities.

Rudy’s Pizzeria group sells over 2 million pizzas per year, with nine new sites planned for 2024.

Meanwhile Albert’s Schloss opened the doors to its fourth site in London’s Piccadilly last week. The Bavarian beer hall brand opened its first site in Manchester in 2015, followed by Liverpool and Birmingham, and sells over 1.2 million pints of Bavarian lager each year.

“Our continued strong trading over a sustained period gives us confidence that both our Albert’s Schloss and Rudy’s Pizza Napoletana brands are well set to deliver growth and are likely to trade successfully in all parts of the UK,” Ellis added.

“I am pleased to have further progressed with our plan to open nine Rudy’s Napoletana in FY24 and Albert’s Schloss London has made a very encouraging start. We continue to search for the best locations and currently we have eight new Rudy’s Napoletana currently in legals and negotiating on a number of potential Albert’s Schloss locations.”
